One Direction ‘Today’ Show Audience Was ‘The Biggest Crowd We've Ever Had," Al Roker Says; Niall Horan Announces Pregnancy In Front Of 18,000 Fans

One Direction performed on the "Today" show around Rockefeller Center on Friday morning, in front of 18,000 fans, or Directioners, NYPD estimated. Niall Horan jokingly announced a pregnancy during the interview

"It seems to me this is the biggest crowd we've ever had," Al Roker said, USA Today reports.

The "Today" show anchors asked One Direction singer Zayn Malik about his recent engagement to fiancée, Perrie Edwards.

"We're really happy! Yeah." Malik said cryptically.

Before he could answer a question about when the wedding will be, Niall Horan piped up with "I'm pregnant!" USA Today reports, adding: "That's exclusive to TODAY show."

Anchor Matt Lauer thanked him for the "breaking news."

Throughout the interview, "Today" anchor Savannah Guthrie continued to mix up the boys, and for some reason thought all of them were called "Liam." She initially confused Zayn with Liam, teasing that  "Liam has some news," when she was actually trying to get at Zayn's engagement news.

"I was just testing the crowd to see if they knew," Guthrie said, covering up for her mistake.

In one of the final questions, Guthrie called Louis Tomlinson "Liam."

After the show, Guthrie tweeted, "Fave #1D member now @Louis_Tomlinson - for being so gracious when I messed up his name #classact - #coldmedicine must be messing with me!"

One Direction band mates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik performed their hits "What Makes You Beautiful," "Kiss You" and their newest track, "Best Song Ever" on the morning show, Today reports.
