‘How I Met Your Mother’ Season 9 Spoilers: Robin ‘Just Doesn’t Love’ Ted, Cobie Smulders Says; Will His Feelings Be A ‘Roadblock’ In The Wedding?

"How I Met Your Mother" Season 9 premieres on September 23, and will take place during Robin and Barney's wedding. But will Ted's existing feelings for Robin cause problems during Robin's wedding in season 9?

"Ted is such a great dude. He is so kind and he is so sweet, and that's a guy who you're like, 'That is a solid guy. Father of my children,'" Cobie Smulders, who plays Robin Scherbatsky, said.

"But Robin just doesn't love him, and that's what it comes down to."

Avid fans of "How I Met Your Mother" won't be surprised that Ted may still have lingering feelings for Robin, considering there was an almost-kiss between Ted and Robin in HIMYM Season 8, IB Times reports.

The website reports that another clue that Ted could cause a problem in Robin and Barney's wedding is a scene from the "Something Old" episode, in which Ted and Robin get drenched in the rain, looking passionately at each other.

"In terms of roadblocks (wedding threats), Ted is a big one. And we'll see how that plays out," Smulders added, IB Times reports.

HIMYM fans won't be able to forget Ted's memorable line to Robin: "Maybe we don't need the Universe to tell us what we want. Maybe we all already know that, deep down."

But don't fear, Robin and Barney fans. "How I Met Your Mother" co-creator Carter Bays said that Ted starts to let go of Robin for good in HIMYM Season 9, Episode 3: "The Broken Code," IB Times reports.

Another aspect that may help Ted let go of Robin is his meeting the titular mother of his children. We already know Ted's eventual wife will be played by actress Cristin Milioti.

Bays gave more insight into how Ted's best friends will meet the mother before he does.

"The order they meet doesn't matter so much, but the context [in which they meet] is the right context for each character," TV Guide quoted Bays.
