iPhone 5S Release Date 2013: Apple To Pilot Phone Trade-Ins In Retail Outlets, Here's A Step-By-Step Guide

The iPhone 5S will be announced on September 10, together with the mid-range iPhone 5C. And for the past few weeks, a lot of people are already planning to 'dispose' their old iPhone models to get the newest smartphone models from Apple.

In relation to this, Apple will begin offering an iPhone trade-in program for consumers. If you are one of those people who want to join this program, here's what's gonna happen:

  • You visit an accredited Apple retail outlet and ask the personnel that you want a trade-in.
  • A tech guy will inspect the phone for both physical and liquid damages. He will conduct the check via Apple's website.
  • The person in charge would interview you in order to come up the estimated value of the iPhone.
  • You get some sort of 'gift check' which bears the value of the iPhone you traded-in.
  • You can now buy the new iPhone 5S at a lower price by using the check.

While Apple has been offering the iPhone recylcing program for some time now, customers would usually wait for days or weeks before the process is finished. With this new trade-in program, iPhone users can just visit any Mac Store and do the trade-in. Several minutes later they would be able to buy their new smartphones right away.

For the iPhone 4 and 4S, trade-ins usually amount to $150-200, while the iPhone 5 may be priced around $250. These rates are significantly higher than those offered by other retail stores and dealers. However, keep in mind that you can only trade-in if you are going to buy a new iPhone on the same day.

This is definitely one step in the right direction for Apple, which has been globally recognized for providing top-notch services.
