Pokemon X And Y Pokedex Spotlight: Fairy-Type Offensive, Defensive Battle Properties, Confirmed Fairy Pokemon, And Known Attack Moves

As Pokemon X and Y draws ever closer, more and more information about the new Fairy-type Pokemon are coming in, so here is a quick roundup of everything we know about the new Pokedex type.

So far, besides Fairy Pokemon being super effective against Dragon-type Pokemon, very little is known about it offensive and defensive battle properties.

However, through the gameplay demo at Gamescom and the Pokemon Game Show, the following have been confirmed about the Pokedex addition.

Offensive

--Fairy is ineffective against Fire.
--Fairy is neutral against Psychic.
--Fairy is neutral against Grass.

Defensive

--Fairy is neutral against Psychic.
--Fairy is neutral against Grass.

In addition, 10 Pokemon from the X and Y Pokedex have been confirmed to be Fairy-type. These include: Sylveon, Flabebe, Spritzee, Swirlix, Xerneas, Jigglypuff, Marill, Gardevoir, Mawile, and Dedenne.

So far, four Fairy-type attack moves have been shown during trailers or gameplay footage: Draining Kiss, Fairy Wind, Geomancy, and Moonblast.

Draining Kiss restores the user's HP, while Moonblast has a chance of lowering the target's Special Attack.

Many Pokemon X and Y fans have a wish list for the Fairy-type offensive and defensive properties, and many fans theorize on the final properties of this Pokedex addition.

"This is what I want for Fairy-type," writes Pokejungle contributor regidudeam.

"Offensive

2x: Dragon, Fighting
0.5x: Ice, Fire, Poison

Defensive
2x: Steel, Poison
0.5x: Fighting
0x: Dragon"

So what do you think? What would you like the new Fairy-type to be effective and ineffective against?
