McDonald’s Wings Coming To Menus September 9, In Time For Football Season; Chicken ‘Mighty Wings’ Price, Recipe, Reviews

McDonald's will now serve wings on their menu, starting September 9. The chicken wings, called Mighty Wings, will be offered at every McDonald's location by September 24, but will their prices, recipe, and reviews compete with fast food chains like Popeye's and KFC?

McDonald's tested the Mighty Wings in both Chicago and Atlanta before the launch to rave reviews, E! News reports.

"We view the introduction of Mighty Wings as a meaningful catalyst for comps," Lynne Collier of Sterne Agee wrote in a research note, Nation's Restaurant News reports. "Based on our channel checks, we believe that Mighty Wings performed very well in test and drove the average check."

"Anyone can do nuggets or tenders and almost all burger chains do, but Mighty Wings are different because they're bone-in chicken," Scott Hume from Burger Business told Yahoo. "They're also tougher to source in large numbers but McDonald's has the clout to do it."

The Mighty Wings will only be available at McDonald's locations until November, for now.

The chicken wings will come in orders of three, five and 10, and the prices will start at $2.99.

The bone-in wings recipe is pretty standard; they are breaded and seasoned with cayenne and chili pepper, USA Today reports. Customers can choose from nine sauces, including Creamy Ranch, Honey, Barbecue, Hot Mustard, Honey Mustard, Chipotle Barbecue, Sweet Chili, Sweet 'N Sour or Spicy Buffalo, The Los Angeles Times reports.

"This is good news because it's in conjunction with the football season," Peter Saleh, an analyst at New York-based Telsey Advisory Group, said in an interview with Bloomberg.

Get ready to bite down on some Mighty Wings this fall, football fans.
