Upcoming Android Phones 2013: LG G2 Thrown From Plane, Showcases Its 13MP Video Recorder

In a new marketing strategy, LG Electronics dropped its upcoming G2 smartphone. Not from top of a chair, table, not even from the top of a building. The Korean team dropped the phone from a plane flying several thousand feet above the ground.

The new Android phone was placed inside a box for protection. The box was also attached to a balloon to keep it from falling hard to the ground. Nevertheless, the experiment was a success. It tested LG G2's 13MP rear view camera in adverse and shaky situations. Good thing it features OIS (optical image stabilization), which helped the phone control shots and provide HD quality photos even when on the go, literally.

With just under a month before launch, the LG team is trying its best to promote the new flagship in any way they can. Some of the perennial favorites which the manufacturer expects to take on are Apple and Samsung, and even long-time standouts HTC and Sony.

In terms of camera quality, only Nokia's Lumia line would be a tough match as its latest phone features over 40 megapixels of lens.

Aside from the rearview camera, the LG G2 is also expected to feature a 2.1MP front camera, 2.4Ghz quadcore Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and 3,000mAh battery. The phone also has a 5.2 inch 1920x1080 display, and two ultra-thin bezels measuring just 0.1 inch.
