Justin Timberlake, ‘Hashtag’ VIDEO [WATCH HERE] With Jimmy Fallon Is Hilarious!! Hashtags Now Used In Almost All Social Networks

Justin Timberlake is at his peak, but never too busy to have some comedy. He has a skit with Jimmy Fallon about #hashtags that’s absolutely hilarious. Hashtags are now used in almost all social networks, and it has become ridiculous.

The skit shows just how stupid and senseless we sound on social media when we feel the need to use hashtags to categorize everything we post. The “pound” sign or the number sign used to be the least pressed button in the keypad. Nowadays, it seems to be overused.

In the movie “Olympus Has Fallen,” the pound sign was erroneously referred to as the hashtag key, almost resulting in the end of the world.
Hashtags provide a means of grouping such messages, since one can search for the hashtag and get the set of messages that contain it. According to Hashtags.com, the hashtag was invented by Chris Messina:

“Chris Messina, a social technology expert, is credited to have come up with the very first hashtag on Twitter.
He first posted the hashtag #barcamp in August 2007. The whole tweet appeared like this:
“how do you feel about using # (pound) for groups. As in #barcamp [msg]?”
Messina came up with the hashtag with the purpose of gathering discussions and online exchanges regarding Barcamp, a technology unconference gathering activity that spans worldwide.”

While it serves a valuable purpose, social media users have misused hashtags. Instead of categorizing their posts, they used hashtags to garner more views. Using trending features on Social media like Twitter, they attach hashtags on their posts regardless of relevance.

The tragic result is having multiple hashtags (as many as ten) for a relatively short post. This is the goal of the video..to show just how ridiculous that sounds in real life.

Enjoy the sarcasm here. #watch now #lolololol.
