Dakota Fanning has been cast in the independent movie “Franny,” which stars Richard Gere.

Dakota Fanning joins Theo James, who starred in “Divergent,” and Richard Gere in the new film by rising star director Andrew Renzi.

Filming on “Divergent” begins on October 21 in Philadelphia.

In the new drama, Dakota Fanning and Theo James play Olivia and Luke, a newly married couple who meet and get swallowed by a hedonistic philanthropist, played by Richard Gere, who is desperate to recreate the life he once had. Richard Gere’s character finds a renewed sense of purpose by ingratiating himself into the lives of the newlyweds Dakota Fanning and James.

The screenplay for “Divergent” was written by the director, Andrew Renzi. The Dakota Fanning-Richard Gere film was developed at this year's Sundance Screenwriters Lab. Divergent is being produced by Treehouse Pictures, Thomas B. Fore, Jason Michael Berman and Jay Schuminsky.

Dakota Fanning will next be seen in Amy Berg’s “Every Secret Thing.” Theo James will next star in Summit’s next “YA” franchise “Divergent” which features Shailene Woodley.
