New Kindle Fire Release Date Next Month In US, Specs: HDX And HD Tablets Feature Faster Hardware, Better Screens, Improved Software

Amazon on Wednesday announced three new Kindle Fire tablets: a 8.9- and 7-inch Kindle Fire HDX and a lower-end Kindle Fire HD. Find out the US release dates and specs for the new Kindle Fire tablets.

Both of the new Kindle Fire HDX tablets and the Kindle Fire HD are already available to order, CNN reports. The US shipping and release dates for the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HDX is December 10, while the release date for the 7-inch HDX is November 14. The new Kindle Fire HD will ship October 2, in just a few weeks.

According to CNN, all three tablets feature faster hardware, better screens, improved software and a subtle new look.

"We have always wanted to build hardware that disappears and gets out of the way," said CEO Jeff Bezos, who showed off the new products at Amazon's Seattle headquarters. "When you're reading a book you don't think about the glue and the stitching."

"It's been just two years since we introduced the first Kindle Fire, and the team is innovating at an unbelievable speed," Bezos continued.

"2.2 GHz processor, 339 ppi display, new 34% lighter design, Fire OS 3.0, and new exclusive features like the Mayday button, X-Ray for Music, Second Screen, and Prime Instant Video downloads. We've worked hard to pack this much hardware, innovation, and customer obsession into these prices."

The Kindle Fire HDX is a speedier, slimmer upgrade to last year's Kindle Fire HD, Design & Trend reports. The two sizes have different prices: the 8-inch version will cost $329, and the 7-inch version will have a $229 price tag.

Both sport higher-resolution screens than the previous Kindle Fire tablet, with a sharper picture and more accurate colors, Design & Trend reports.

Both also boast a 2.2 GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and a better graphics engine.

It will run on a tweaked version of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, the Examiner reports.
