Google Nexus 4 Update: Reported End Of Run Status For Flagship Handset Signals Nearing Launch Date For Nexus 5?

Google Nexus 4 update and news recently has been focused on the reported end of run status of the flagship handset. Late last week, both the 8GB and 16GB versions of the Nexus 4 is out of inventory as per their Google Play status. The move by the tech giant suggests that the October 14 rumor of Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat could be a reality.

The Verge’s source with knowledge of the Google’s plan said that the sold-out status of Nexus 4 marks the end of its run. Google will not be bringing back the Nexus 4 in any storage size and there are only a few Nexus 4 handsets available in other countries. Once the device is sold out, there will be no more inventory available.

Google’s decision to stop selling the Nexus 4 comes amidst rumors that the company and LG has teamed up for a follow-up Nexus smartphone, which many tech writers and rumor mills has dubbed as the “Nexus 5” The Verge reports.

Android Authority, however, is an alleged recipient of an image of a Nexus 4 running on the Android 4.4 KitKat. Although the image looks legitimate, various inconsistencies have been disocovered on the KitKat-powered Nexus 4.

Almost two weeks ago, Google sold out the 8GB version of Nexus 4 after a clearance price cut, which many also reported is a signal that it is clearing inventory to pave way for the rumored Nexus 5.

During the announcement of the Android 4.4 KitKat a Google employee was filmed holding up a new smartphone that features a horizontal Nexus logo, similar to the branding seen on the Nexus 7. A few days after, alleged leaked photos have surfaced on what looks like a Nexus 5 in an FCC filing.

Now that the Nexus 4 is officially out and it leaves Google having no official flagship smartphone, the upcoming release of the alleged Nexus 5 is not a far-fetched prediction.
