Apple Releases iOS 7.0.2 Update To Fix Security Bug Only A Week After First Release

Apple has just released an iOS 7.0.2 update. The new supplemental update fixes a security hole allows anyone to gain access to iOS apps without having to enter a passcode.

It's only been a week since the first software release, but Apple's released yet another supplemental update for iOS 7.

The new  7.0.2 update from Apple will fix a security bug that allows users to bypass the passcode security on the lock screen. Oops.

The bug was discovered within hours of the public update's release. It would have given anyone direct access to applications and user data.

Lock screens are important to defend against theft and identifying information being compromised, but Apple says that only half of users utilize a passcode.

Thus, they've debuted Touch ID, which will use a fingerprint scanner in the iPhone 5S and unlock a phone sans passcode. The feature will likely also be included in all future iOS devices.

Apples said the new security fix will also enable users to use a Greek keyboard when typing in passcodes, something that was initially missing in the first release of iOS 7.0.2.
