Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remake Gameplay Preview Video Compilation: Winter Release For PS Vita, PS3 Still Planned

With the Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD remake set for a winter release, a few sources have uploaded gameplay preview videos for fans to check out the upgraded visuals of the iconic Square Enix series.

For Technobuffalo, while the music and environment have seen significant HD upgrades, the character models don't quite sit as well.

"The new graphics work on some levels, like the grand scope of environments and textures, but character models come off as a bit more awkward," writes Ron Duwell.

"Too much of the eye is seen, too much animation in the reconstructed faces doesn't match the less detailed NPCs or other body parts. Viewing Titus from below gives the image of a fat lip and bulging eyes."

Thanks to Kotaku, you can check out the character models for yourself during Richard Eisenbeis' Final Fantasy X, X-2 HD remake gameplay preview.

According to Eisenbeis' assessment, while Final Fantasy X HD remake looks significantly improved, Final Fantasy X-2 isn't looking quite as sharp.

"Rikku, Paine, and Yuna are excellently detailed-their bodies and clothes have real shape. The NPCs-even reoccurring enemies like Leblanc-are clearly less detailed with textures painted on," writes Eisenbeis.

"The Gullwings also have actual jaw movement when they talk, while the other characters are lucky to have mouth flaps that are either open or closed. When the two types of models interact, the game loses its sense of visual uniformity-which is a little annoying."

Currently, both Final Fantasy X HD remake and Final Fantasy X-2 HD remake are slated for a winter release in North America and Europe.
