Nina Dobrev And Ian Somerhalder Still ‘Love And Support’ Each Other On Twitter, Despite Break Up

Nina Dobrev and her ex boyfriend Ian Somerhalder dated for three years after meeting on the set of "The Vampire Diaries," and even though Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder had a break up earlier this summer, they seem friendlier than ever via Twitter.

Ian Somerhalder posted a photo of himself on Twitter, with an award he was given for his efforts in trying to promote environmentalism, Entertainmentwise reports.

Ian captioned the photo on Twitter, writing: "I'm crazy stupid proud to be in this. Thank you to all for this honor and I look forward to collaborating with all I met last night. Such a monumental moment in my life."

Referring to Nina in the same tweet, Ian added: "Thanks for snapping this shot- photo credit @ninadobrev from set of the Vampire Diaries Love Ian."

Nina Dobrev had her own message for her ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder on her Twitter.

She wrote: "@Condenasttraveler Recognizes you for your relentless outreach+using it to change the world as you have+will continue to do. MAJOR Congrats!"

Ian responded with the tweet: "@ninadobrev @Condenasttraveler Awwww!Thank you NINA-thank you for the love&support.Truly. Xo Ian."

"Love & support"? Everyone should take note of these two - being friends after a break up isn't an easy task.

Perhaps Nina and Ian are able to stay on great terms because they see each other all the time, and in very intimate circumstances.

Their characters on "The Vampire Diaries," Elena and Damon, are currently dating and very much in love in the upcoming season 5, which premieres October 3rd. Perhaps their interactions on screen has helped develop their friendship in real life, post-break up.

Hopefully this means Ian won't have a problem with Nina's reportedly new boyfriend, Derek Hough.
