Oscars 2013 Nominations Will Include 'Fruitvale Station' According To TWC's Harvey Weinstein

The Weinstein Company's Harvey Weinstein is gunning for the 2013 Oscars nominations to include this year's Sundance winner "Fruitvale Station."




During the Zurich premiere of "Fruitvale Station," a drama based on the 2008 killing of Oscar Grant by the Oakland police, Weinstein complimented the movie's first-time director Ryan Coogler.




"[The film] did $16 million, which is very good for a film that size but there's going to be another round with this," Weinstein said. "He's [Coogler] a boxing fan and he's going to get a round two," he said.




Not only is TWC pushing for the movie to be in the running for multiple nominations, but it also might have a re-release.




TWC has a lot of other movies that will most likely receive praise from the Oscars. Those movies include, Lee Daniels's "The Butler," biopic "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom," John Wells' dysfunctional family dramedy "August: Osage County," and Stephen Frears' "Philomena."




Olivier Dahan's biopic "Grace of Monaco" starring Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly could've been in this list if TWC didn't push it back to next year because it "just wasn't finished, the sound, anything," according to Weinstein.
