McKayla Maroney, Kyla Ross To Compete For All-Around Spots At 2013 World Gymnastics Championships

Team USA are hard at work during podium training for the 2013 World Gymnastics Championships, and it appears all that work is paying off for McKayla Maroney.

According to Examiner, the latest news is that McKayla Maroney will compete in the all-around at the 2013 World Gymnastics Championships, which means she will join Kyla Ross and Simone Biles as all-around competitors.

Sadly, this leaves Brenna Dowell out of the competition altogether, as only 3 gymnasts from each country can compete per apparatus. With Kyla, Simone, and McKayla competing on all four events, Dowell has been named a traveling alternate at this championships.

But the spotlight will definitely be on the all-around competition, as McKayla Maroney, Kyla Ross, and Simone Biles will be competing against Russia's Aliya Mustafina and Tatiana Nabieva, Romania's Larisa Iordache, and China's Yao Jinnan.

However, this does not mean all three ladies will automatically compete in the all-around, as only the top two scorers of each country during qualifications can advance to the actual competition.

As childhood best friends and the only Olympians on Team USA, it will be interesting to see how Kyla Ross and McKayla Maroney stack up against each other.

Currently, both Ross and Maroney are training very well during podium training according to reports, and USA Gymnastics has uploaded several clips of podium training showcasing their skills.
