iPhone 6 Rumors: Taiwanese Company To Take Over Samsung's Role In A8 Chip Production For Upcoming Apple Devices

The iPhone 5S was just announced earlier this month, yet updates regarding iPhone 6 rumors are already circling the Web. One of these rumors is that Apple is planning to depend on Samsung as far as its A8 chips are concerned.

According to Hankyung, a South Korean newspaper, Apple will begin working with the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) in producing the company's next generation processors.

In addition, TSMC will reportedly work on 70-80% of all the A8 chip production for the upcoming iPhone 6, as well as other Apple devices.

While Samsung would still work on 20-30% of the total Apple CPUs, that percentage will shrink year after year, until the Cupertino manufacturer would finally free itself from its ties with Samsung Electronics.

However, some analysts and consumers are skeptic about Apple moving away from Samsung in the CPU production category. One reason is that the Korean manufacturer is one of the best, and Apple might not want to risk the quality of its phone components just because it wants to become independent.
