Xbox One Halo 5 Release Date 2014: ‘Guardians’ PS4 Surprise? [UPDATE] Highly-Anticipated Game Could Be ‘Huge Boost’ For Microsoft

Halo 5: Guardians is expected to be a "huge boost" to Microsoft's Xbox One next-generation console, CNET.com reports, leaving many fans wondering if it will give rival Playstation 4 competition.

"Halo 5: Guardians is a bigger effort than Halo 4," 343 Industries General Manager Bonnie Ross said in a statement, according to the site.

"That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what's now a brand-new and more powerful engine."

Halo 5: Guardians has been confirmed for a Fall 2014 release date for the Xbox One, the International Business Times reports, but the site that reported the rumor, Engadget, has not confirmed an exact day.

A source allegedly told the site a remastered version of Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4 will launch in HD ahead of upcoming title.

Microsoft is expected to make official announcements for the release dates of Halo 5, Ryse 2, Forza Horizon 2, an anniversary edition of Halo 2 and others, a blogger named Robert MacRawley said, according to Tech Radar.

"This info comes from the highest source and contains near full details of Microsoft E3 2014 conference," he wrote, according to the site.

Microsoft is expected to make a news announcement surrounding Halo 5's release date for the Xbox 360, trailer and gameplay, Gameranx.com reports.

"Halo news will be coming at E3," Microsoft official Phil Spencer said a while back, according to the site.
