Project Tango: Google Working On 7" Tablet Superior To Nexus Lineup, 3D Sensors Let It Scan Nearby Objects

Project Tango: Google is industriously working on a number of cool devices which may be released as early as this year up to next year. Two of the exciting projects include Android Silver, the new Nexus lineup of devices, and Project Ara, the world's first modular smartphone that only costs $50.

However, most people may not be familiar with Project Tango.

For some time now, Google has been working on Project Tango, a program by which the company allows partner developers to work on apps, features and other 'revolutionary' tools to further improve technology.

And in a report by BGR, it looks like the search giant is now working on a new Android tablet that will surpass the performance and quality of Nexus slates which have been released in the past.

According to the report, the Project Tango tablet will pack a 7-inch display, but that's not the main event for the Android slate. In the report, the device will allegedly pack 3D sensors which can 'recognize objects around and map the external environment for various purposes'.

In a report by The Wall Street Journal, the 7-inch tablet will have two rear cameras, infrared depth sensors and advanced software that can capture precise three-dimensional images of objects.

Does this all sound to you as if it came from a sci-fi movie? Well, you better wake up as this is certainly the level of technology we have today, and Google is already in the middle of it all.

If you are already preparing your budget to get this one of a kind device, you would surely be disappointed that Google will only prepare around 4,000 units of this tablet which are for developers. In the report, the devices would be ready before the company's I/O event in June.

While there have been no previous Project Tango devices which officially hit the market, we will see if this new Android-powered slate would be an exception.
