Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, specs, update: The newest chipset by Qualcomm has definitely captivated a reviewer, noting that the processor is the fastest CPU/GPU combo yet. One key quality of the Snapdragon 805 processor is its 5 frame per second advantage against its nearest competitor, the Snapdragon 800.
According to CNET, in a story titled “The Snapdragon 805 handily beats the competition,” it noted that it has been a while since the news site has seen a mobile processor make a significant jump in performance over previous models.
The report noted that the Tegra 4 and the Snapdragon 800 processor has leapfrogged the competition in 2013, but the new year has prompted a new evolution on this key under the hood element.
In a GFXBench 3.0 test, which pushes devices harder while running them all at 1080P, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor dominated.
Based on test results conducted by the tech news site, the 805 has at least five frames-per-second advantage over the Snapdragon 800. The advantage was on the more demanding Manhattan benchmark. The Manhattan demo is one of the most demanding benchmarks for mobile devices.
On the T-Rex test, the Snapdragon 805 outperforms its competitor in a larger scale.
Qualcomm intends to release its 64-bit 808 and 810 early next year, but for now, the 805 is king and dominates the stat sheets in numerous ways.
In a report by Phone Arena on May 25, it noted that the new processor allows phones to offer two-camera systems like the Duo Camera on the HTC One (M8). The chipmaker’s senior director for camera and imaging, Tim Yates, said that Qualcomm plans on developing a reference design that supports both stereo and depth cameras, so phone makers will not have to do it themselves from scratch.
The gadget and tech news site said that the Snapdragon 805 has a pair of ISPs that allow it to capture HD video and 16MP bursts photos at the same time. The chip set can also offer 3D noise reduction videos, while the chip’s gyroscope allows for digital image stabilization.
