New Doctor Who Season 8 Companion Unveiled Alongside Series 8 Teaser Trailer And August Release Date: Are Samuel Anderson And Ellis George Playing The Same Character?

As a string of "Doctor Who" updates surface before the season 8 release date, special attention it being paid to the announcement of a possible new companion.

First, it appears "Doctor Who" season 8 will land in August, with a specific release date not yet confirmed. You can check out the brief teaser trailer below:

Some fans are annoyed it doesn't reveal much, but it wouldn't be a Steven Moffat show without some backlash from the fanbase!

Even more intriguing is the recent "announcement" that a new companion will be joining Jenna Coleman and Peter Capaldi on "Doctor Who" season 8.

"There's a new member in the Who Crew, my little sis," wrote actor Samuel Anderson on Twitter, with a photo showing director's chairs for himself, Coleman, Capaldi, and an actress named Ellis George.

According to Doctor Who TV, Ellis George will be playing a character named Courtney, who may also a Coal Hill School student.

Some Whovians believe Steven Moffat is recreating the original "Doctor Who" companion, with two Coal Hill School teachers and a student. Anderson's message also could allude to the fact that Ellis George may be his character's (Danny Pink) sister.

But there's an even crazier theory out there, which is that Ellis George and Samuel Anderson are playing the same new companion in "Doctor Who" season 8.

"Does anyone else think it odd that the BBC announced one new possible companion, but not the other? I'm sure there's more to this than meets the eye," wrote Deus Ex Machina on Doctor Who TV.

Could one of them be a transformer of some sort?
