iPhone 6 Release Date Confirmed On September 19 By German Carrier, Will Apple's First 4.7" Smartphone Make It To The Top?

While Apple has not yet released any official information about the iPhone 6 release date, it looks like a German carrier was not able to stop itself from spilling the beans.

According to a report by GSM Arena, German carrier Deutsche Telekom reportedly informed its employees, particularly its support staff that the iPhone 6 would be launched on September 19 this year.

While this is certainly a rumor at most, it certainly falls in line with Apple's recent schedule when it comes to releasing its new devices. Last year, Apple held an event in September just after the IFA event in Berlin.

In the event, it unveiled the highly awaited iPhone 5s and its supposedly cheaper sibling, the iPhone 5c.

Of course, the rest is history. The iPhone 5s became the best selling iPhone to date, while the plastic-clad 5c did not do well in its target market in China and other emerging markets.

This year, several reports from DigiTimes and BGR have continuously tipped that the new Apple smartphone would get two versions as well. However, we won't be seeing any 'cheaper' versions this year.

According to reports, the Cupertino manufacturer is working on two new display sizes for the iPhone 6. The smaller one which measures about 4.7 inches is said to be released earlier, probably during the September 19 date mentioned by Deutsche Telekom.

On the other hand, there would also be a 5.5 inch edition of the iPhone 6 which aims to take on the bigger Android smartphones in the market such as the soon to be announced Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and probably a bigger HTC One M8, and Sony Xperia Z2 as well.

Aside from the bigger screens, other rumored specs of the iPhone 6 include an improved Touch ID home button, sapphire display, on-cell technology that leads to thinner design and more responsive touch screen, and even water-resistance.
