Samsung Update: Chairman Lee Kun Hee Inundated With ‘Cure’ Offers

Samsung Chairman Lee Kun Hee reportedly regained consciousness for the first time in 15 days since being hospitalized at the Samsung Medical Center in Seoul after suffering a heart attack on the evening of May 10.

After news broke that Lee Kun Hee was hospitalized, the Samsung Medical Center has reportedly been flooded with offers from the public claiming they can cure the 72-year-old chairman.

"There have been a variety of treatment methods being suggested since the Samsung Chairman was hospitalized," stated a Samsung Medical Center associate on May 27.

The associate added, "For a period of time, people would call and visit the hospital with various methods."

There were 2 to 3 people visiting the Samsung Medical Center a day on average reportedly claiming they can help cure the chairman, according to Korean publication DongA.

The proposed evidence and treatment methods were diverse. The use of special powers, spirit, feng shui, faith and prayer were amongst the few suggestions that were made.

A local medicine expert reportedly called the Samsung Medical Center multiple times claiming that an assortment of herbal medicines would cure Lee Kun Hee.

There were cases where the bible was sent via mail, while others visited the hospital directly, asking for thirty minutes of time with the chairman.

The Samsung Medical Center reportedly turned away all offers that were made outside of the hospital.

"Most of the people that introduced themselves as experts didn't have a medical license. It was difficult politely turning away some of the more absurd offers," stated the Samsung Medical Center associate.

The Samsung Chairman reportedly regained consciousness after hearing baseball player Lee Seung-yeup hit a homerun while his family was watching the game in his hospital room.

Lee Kun Hee reportedly continues to show signs of improvement in his condition.

"The chairman is showing a stronger response to external stimuli. Medical professionals are seeing that as a good sign," stated the Samsung Communications Director, Lee Jun, on May 28.
