‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Cast Rumors: Cable Also In The Film? Past, Present And Future Mutants Converge For Extinction Level Disaster Brought By The Four Horsemen!

The "X-Men: Apocalypse" cast rumors are on and based on "Days of Future Past" we have learned that anything is now possible. Mutants from the past can return, and mutants from the future would have to meet up with them.

Cable has become a central figure in the X-Men canon as comic book readers would point out. From wired.com: "Born Nathan Christopher Summers, Cable is the future kid of Cyclops and a clone of Jean Grey-the result of generations of genetic manipulation by Mr. Sinister in his quest to find a way out from under Apocalypse's thumb (just run with it, okay?). Pulled into the distant future as an infant to save him from a techno-organic virus, Cable grew up to become a messianic figure of sorts: the man destined to bring down Apocalypse."

Den of Geek also suggested the character be introduced before Fox pursues their future project: "Cable. Since X-Force is most certainly a film on Fox's X-Men agenda (with Jeff Wadlow currently attached), the leader of X-Force is definitely someone who could use a big screen introduction, and who would be right at home taking on Apocalypse. If Fox is set on spinning off movies beyond Wolverine film, X-Men: Apocalypse could be the right place to do it."

With those credentials, he should really be in the next movie, even in an introductory role. He is pretty much the John Connor (Terminator) counterpart as he would travel back in time to avert the events of his timeline where Apocalypse rules and they were all loyal subjects.

But that plot is too similar to "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Introducing yet another set of migrants from  the future in which Apocalypse is the main villain instead of the Sentinels would not only be redundant, it would also be confusing. Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg and the creative team need to find a way for the mutants of the past, present and future to converge and avert the disaster brought about by Apocalypse, which they have described as "Extinction Level" not for mutants but for the entire world.

The casting choice would be interesting as well. It would depend greatly on what age they would portray Cable (since that is also variable now). "X-Men: Apocalypse" will be shown on May 27, 2016.
