Upcoming Nokia Phones 2014: Lumia 638 Midranger Quietly Launches In China For Only $192

Even after it was officially bought by Microsoft more than a month ago, Nokia continues to launch a barrage of Lumias in Asia, most especially in emerging markets such as China.

According to a report from GSM Arena a couple of days ago, another midranger Lumia has hit the Chinese market, and aims to take on the Android juggernaut in the country.

Dubbed as the Lumia 638, the Windows Phone powered device is actually a variant of the Lumia 630 and 635, which made their debut at Microsoft's BUILD event in April. Both devices are now out in the UK and selected markets in Europe.

So what does the Lumia 638 bring to the table? Nothing much, but it comes with a pretty enticing price tag.

At only 1,199Yuan or only $192, the Nokia Lumia 638 is not only a dual-SIM phone, but it also supports LTE connectivity.

Similar to its Lumia 630 and 635 siblings, the new Nokia phone is packed with a Snapdragon 400 chipset, a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, a 4.5-inch display, probably with 800 x 480 resolution, and a 5MP primary shooter at the back.

Interestingly, that's where the similarity ends between the Lumia 638 and its older siblings. The LTE-powered smartphone packs 1GB of RAM, which makes it a much faster device than the other two.

In addition, another selling point of the Nokia handset is the Windows Phone 8.1 update which comes with a handful of nifty and neat features. Some of the features showcased at the BUILD conference include the super fast text prediction virtual keypad, the notification center, more customization options for the homescreen, and of course the voice assistant Cortana.

The report did not mention anything about international availability, but we will make sure to keep you updated in the coming weeks regarding possible pricing info.
