HTC One M8: 'Prime' Version Of HTC Flagship With QHD Display, 3GB RAM and 13MP Dual UltraPixel Shooters Not Pushing Through, Says Report

During the past several weeks, there have reports that a higher end version of the HTC One M8 was allegedly in the works. And while HTC has yet to confirm the rumor, another rumor claims that the premium smartphone has now been canceled.

According to a report by GSM Arena a couple of days ago, notorious leaker EV Leaks tweeted that the super phone would not push through as was previously rumored.

Dubbed simply as HTC One M8 Prime, the handset is rumored to pack a massive 5.5-inch display with QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution just like the LG G3. Also allegedly on board are a 32GB built in memory, quad-core CPU running at 2.5GHz, Snapdragon 805 chipset and 3GB of RAM.

Aside from the already dreamy specs of the HTC One M8 Prime, another eye-catcher is the dual 13MP UltraPixel shooters at the back, which would certainly become a favorite among phone photographers around the world. The Android-powered handset has also been previously rumored to retain the 5MP shooter and HTC's BoomSound speakers in front.

In addition, the device was also tipped to be water resistant just like the Samsung Galaxy S5, and would feature its own set of sensors for a variety of functions and operations.

Unfortunately, all of these details would just go to waste as the development of the said device has been canceled, says rumors.

Interestingly, Samsung has also been rumored to be working on its own 'Prime' version of the Galaxy S5 which sports similar specs to the recently announced LG G3 such as the Quad HD screen and 3GB of RAM.

As we approach the upcoming release of Apple's new iPhone 6 that will reportedly get a bigger screen, Android OEMs are already trying their best to bump the specs of their current flagships. Will they succeed? We will see in the coming months.
