2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: Zach Randolph Stays In Memphis! No More Gasol Brothers Reunion? Will Marc Join Pau In Another Team?

The 2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions are being confirmed one by one, and the latest free agent-to-be taken off the board is Zach Randolph of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Randolph was a big question mark coming into the off-season. There were trade rumors that floated around about a Randolph-Pau Gasol trade that would unite the Gasol brothers. For the Lakers, they would be interested in Randolph since his contract expires at the end of the 2015 season.

The trade did not materialize and Pau Gasol is now a free agent. Randolph still has an option on his contract this season, which he is taking.

The big question was his asking price for a contract extension. Despite being a double-double machine, The Grizzlies need to sign Randolph to a lower amount. Randolph is 32 years old, and it's a valid question if he can still sustain those numbers.

From Memphis Commercial Appeal, Randolph was quoted: "It's cool, man. This is where I want to be."

MCA also mentioned that Zach was "the heart and soul of the Grizzlies' success." Memphis started to become an important team in the West Zach came in and complemented the Marc-Mike Conley combo.

The details from ESPN: "ESPN.com reported last weekend that the Grizzlies were working to complete a deal by July 1 to keep Randolph from reaching the open market. Sources close to the process said Friday that Randolph agreed to a two-year, $20 million extension -- which starts in 2015-16 -- after invoking his $16.5 million player option for next season."

That means Randolph will take a pay cut to about $ 10 million and stay in Memphis until the end of the 2017 season.

It will close the window for a Gasol brothers team-up, at least in Memphis. The Grizzlies would use any cap space to secure a much-needed wing scorer.

Now the other big question for the franchise is Marc Gasol, who will also be a free agent next season. If Memphis pans out and his brother Pau Gasol is in a better place (based on the latter's decision this summer), Marc may follow his big brother.
