Android 4.5 Lollipop Release Date: HTC Reportedly Working Double Time To Bring Latest Update To One Lineup

During the Google I/O Conference last week, a lot of people expected the Android 4.5 Lollipop release date, or at least some details about the upcoming version.

Fortunately, Google did not disappoint and was able to introduce to us the new version which is now available for Google's partner developers to tinker with. However, it decided to tease the version name to just 'L'.

Whether it is Android Lollipop or not,  what matters is that Google has provided a number of interesting and cool features to the new update which Android loyalists should surely love.

Some of the new features include a power saver mode which tunes down the phone's CPU in order to prolong battery life by up to 2 hours. Another helpful change is the new notification function which can now be accessed straight from the lock screen. While there are third-party apps which already have this function, it is still good to see Google trying to make its mobile platform seamless in all areas.

Now that everyone is already preparing for the release date of Android L, even some manufacturers are already working hard to deliver the latest update on time.

According to a recent report by GSM Arena, HTC has contacted them stating that the company will release the Android L update to their One smartphones 90 days after they receive the final build from Google.

This is certainly great news for people who cannot afford to live without having their Android handsets updated to the latest version. And because HTC has successfully fulfilled its promise last year, we don't see any reason to doubt the word of the Taiwanese manufacturer.

Unfortunately, while the One's future is secured, we cannot guarantee whether the Desire lineup shares the same fate.

We will bring you more details about Android 4.5 L in the coming weeks.
