‘Winds Of Winter’ Release Date Hints Avoided By Author George R.R. Martin? Shifts Focus On Spoilers For Latest Novel In ‘A Song Of Fire And Ice’ Series

The "Winds of Winter" release date question was avoided by George R.R. Martin although he gave plenty of hints on what to expect on his latest novel in the "A Song of Fire and Ice" series.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, George R. R. Martin is still mum on the "Winds of Winter" release date but he did reveal huge battles between Stannis Baratheon and Ramsay Bolton as well as the Yunkai and Daenerys Targayen's army.

"I think we're gonna start out with a big smash with the two enormous battles," he said.

He also said that Tyrion Lannister and Daenerys Targayen, the two fan favorites in HBO's "Game of Thrones," will have their fates crossed in the next book.

"Tyrion and Dany will intersect, in a way, but for much of the book they're still apart. They both have quite large roles to play here," he said.

"Tyrion has decided that he actually would like to live, for one thing, which he wasn't entirely sure of during the last book, and he's now working toward that end-if he can survive the battle that's breaking out all around him," author George R. R. Martin revealed.

"And Dany has embraced her heritage as a Targaryen and embraced the Targaryen words. So they're both coming home," he added.

While there's no word yet on the "Winds of Winter" release date, the Washington Post came to the defense of George R. R. Martin as it said that his reputation as a slow writer is undeserved.

"Martin is indeed taking his time - but the pace of his output, page-wise, is on track with Rowling's and higher than just about any of the other fantasy authors listed."

Earlier, editor Anne Lesley Groell said during a Q&A in Suduvu Universe in reply to a fan asking for the "Winds of Winter" release date that they expect to have it "reasonably soon."
