‘The Originals’ Season 2 Premiere Date All Set In October; ‘Vampire Diaries’ Spinoff Writers Converge To Begin ‘Awesome’ Series

"The Originals" season 2 premiere date was announced by CW to be on October 6, Monday, which is a departure from its regular Tuesday timeslot. The "Vampire Diaries" spinoff writers have already converged to begin the "awesome" series.

According to WetPaint, "The Originals" season 2 premiere date on Monday will be followed by the new drama in CW called, "Jane The Virgin." Taking over the Tuesday timeslot for the "Vampire Diaries" spinoff will be the new series "Flash," which is an "Arrow" spinoff.

The website added that the "Vampire Diaries" spinoff already filmed some of its episodes for the second season run, as the crew and cast made sure to put on extra hours at the end of season one before going on a break.

This was confirmed by showrunner Julie Plec in April in a tweet: "Meanwhile 'The Originals' still has 6 days and 3 season 2 eps to shoot before we get a break. Hence my impending death-slash-mental breakdown."

The writers of the show posted a tweet on the official social media of the series: "First week back together in the room, and oh man is Season 2 gonna be awesome. It feels good to be bad again #TheOriginals."

With "The Originals" season 2 premiere date in the bag, fans of the show can expect more twists and turns as E! News reported that Sonja Sohn will play Lenore, described as "a powerful salt-of-the-earth in New Orleans" who will become a worthy adversary for Klaus, played by Joseph Morgan.

Also making his debut in "The Originals" season 2 is Daniel Sharman who will play Kaleb, described by E! as "the handsome, devilish and charming new witch in the French Quarter's coven" who only wants to sow as much chaos as possible, while also chasing women on the side.

"The Originals," which premiered in October 2013, is a spinoff of "The Vampire Diaries." The story revolves around Nicklaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) who returns to the French Quarter in New Orleans with the original family of vampires, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah (Claire Holt).
