Samsung Galaxy S5 Specs: Flagship Android Phone Allegedly Getting Google Play Edition Soon, Appears In Leaked Image

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has specs that can certainly make the mouth of any tech enthusiast water and for a number of markets, it is already considered as the top selling Android phone. 

However, with great power comes great responsibility. 

While the Galaxy S5 is certainly feature-packed and a beast when it comes to performance, owners would have to live with two inferior aspects of the phone - Samsung's TouchWiz UI and the hefty price tag. 

And so in old Google fashion, the search engine giant would once again make a Google Play Edition of the Samsung flagship, or so the rumor goes. 

According to a report by GSM Arena, a leaked image of the alleged Samsung Galaxy S5 GPE has been posted by notorious leakster EV Leaks, and are already making the rounds all over the Web. 

In the report, the Samsung Galaxy S5 GPE will most likely be like its predecessors, a handset that gets the flagship's specs and hardware, but runs solely on stock Android, this time version 4.4.4 Kit Kat. 

With the Galaxy S5 GPE, consumers would be freed from Samsung's TouchWiz UI, though some of the phone's cool features may also be brought out such as the heartrate monitor, fingerprint scanner the ultra power saving mode, which comes with Samsung's UI. 

Hopefully, Google will find a way to stick to these features for the phone even while it is running stock Android Kit Kat. 

Last year, the search giant introduced the Google Play Edition for selected devices. Some of the devices which already have a GPE include the Samsung Galaxy S4, the HTC One, LG's Pad 8.3 slate, and the Motorola Moto G. Compared to devices coming directly from their manufacturers, GPE devices get Android updates more quickly than most of the market. 

So if you are an Android loyalist and you want to enjoy the monster specs of the Galaxy S5, then this cool combination in the Galaxy S5 GPE would surely be worth checking out.
