Psy's 'Record-Setting Phenomenon' Places in Hollywood Reporter's Top Stories of 2012

As CNN and other major media outlets do their lists of top stories of the year, Psy places 10th in Hollywood Reporter's Top 10 Stories of 2012.

The Hollywood Reporter mentions Psy's "Gangnam Style" as a 'record-setting phenomenon', The media outlet praises the Korean rapper and his viral hit "Gangnam Style" along with a comment the sensation himself said in an interview on how the song went viral.

South Korean sensation Psy galloped his way into superstardom with "Gangnam Style," the unsuspecting viral sensation that closed out the year with more than 1 billion YouTube views some six months after posting -- an unprecedented milestone for the video sharing site. (In November, "Gangnam Style" surpassed Justin Bieber's "Baby" as the most-watched YouTube clip of all time with 815 million views.) In an interview with THR for its Rule Breakers issue, the K-pop star acknowledged that even he doesn't know what caused the video to catch fire. "It's something I think about, too -- so that I can repeat it for the next single," he cracked. "I'm analyzing that right now, and it's really hard to tell. You could say it was all about the video, right? But I'm thinking people are already done with the video -- they already saw it. But seeing the way people are acting, I think it's the dance move."

2012 became the year for K-Pop as Psy lead the scene and shed light on Korea's entertainment industry with "Gangnam Style". The achievements Psy and "Gangnam Style" have achieved within the second half of 2012 are indeed record breaking. Within the 60 days of "Gangnam Style"s Psy has performed overseas, signed with Scooter Braun, and was featured on worldwide radio stations.

Now that 2013, will Psy break more records with his upcoming Korean album under Schoolboy Records? What do you guys think?
