“Hunger Games” theme park is just the beginning.
The “Hunger Games” film became such a bit hit that from a best-selling novel by Suzanne Collins, it became one of the biggest commercial book-to-film franchises since “Harry Potter” wrapped up it’s eighth movie.
While the last installment of the “Hunger Games” film is awaiting is theatre release this month, there is good news for fans of the franchise. NY Times reported that Lionsgate is looking into creating a “Hunger Games” theme park, but that is just the beginning.
“The more we thought about it, the more we realized there was a major opportunity — not just to create something smart and captivating that ‘Hunger Games’ fans would love, but to bring all of our franchises alive in new ways,” said Chief Brand Officer Tim Palen on EW.
This means that other franchises under Lionsgate, such as “Now You See Me” and “Divergent” may possibly get amusement park exhibits or attractions as well.
Lionsgate isn’t the only one with the plans to bring a theme park to life. 20th Century Fox is coming up with a major project in the Middle East and even Ubisoft has looked into Malaysia as their base for an amusement park.
The company will also be having a “Lionsgate zone” included in Motiongate park set to be open in the UAE in 2016. Some of the potential rides include a recreation of the District 12 mining town, Peeta Mellark’s bakery and even rollercoaster rides based on the Capitol trains.
In other news, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” is getting released in theatres on Nov. 20, 2015.
