The wait for Half Life 3 already passed the 10-year mark. 'Half Life 3' Release Date may be stalled as Valve has set a higher priority for its upcoming "Left 4 Dead 3."
Valve announced that the "Half Life 3" release date is around the corner earlier this year. Fans think Half Life 3 has been developed but is being shelved for other projects.
According to Mater Herald the 'Left 4 Dead 3' rumors started after some screenshots of Valve's internal bug tracking systems were leaked. This was interpreted as saying the game was being developed on Valve's new Source Engine 2. Master Herald reported that Valve made a lot of progress in porting 'Dota 2' to that new engine.
Valve studio appears to be focusing on Steam and on "Counter-Strike" and "Dota" currently. Valve teased about "Half-Life 3" earlier this month in the update files for the Massive Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game "Dota 2."
There was a mysterious file included in the "DOTA 2" downloadable content pack update called "hl3.txt." The document is said to contain codes unrelated to DOTA but Valve didn't make any announcement on whether Half Life 3 is in accessible.
'Half Life 3' release date is waiting on improvements in the game's source engine Improvements.
Valve said that they are not producing Half Life 3 soon, but fans have come up with several theories as to why the game is not yet in development.
Valve head Gabe Newell said the Half Life 3 release date depends on the developers.
"The only reason we'd go back and do like a super classic kind of product is if a whole bunch of people just internally at Valve said they wanted to do it and had a reasonable explanation for why [they did]," Newell told IGN.
A new game called the Gabe Newell Simulator allows gamers to take on the role of Gabe Newell and maybe release "Half Life 3."
"'Gabe Newell Simulator' is a game for those who have always dreamed of being the glorious PC Master Race Gabe Newell! You can impersonate Gabe and help him in his fight against other companies and make the decision to release 'Half Life 3' or not, and this will have consequences in the whole world!" wrote the Steam Community page.
