Terrence Howard wanted to give his "Empire" season 2 character, Lucious Lyon, a rest. The Oscar-nominated actor shared that detail when he was asked about his plans when the TV show does end.
In an interview with Extra TV, the actor did reveal that the hit TV series has given the fame he didn't have when he was still focused on the big screen and that when his stint on TV was over, he only wanted to be a doting father.
"I was never as famous as a film actor as I am now," he told Jerry Penacoli.
"I want to give Lucious the rest that I have in this creative space, and then I want to raise my son," the actor also said about his plans when the TV show ends.
While it was clear that the Lucious Lyon star was set on finishing "Empire," it was reported on Page Six back in August that the showrunners wanted to lessen his appearance on season 2 of the show. The reason for the rumored scaled down role was the real-life drama that he got involved in. This included ex-wife Michelle Ghent's accusation against him and his apparent divorce with current wife, Mira Park.
"What they are doing is two-fold," the source revealed then to Page Six. "They have him locked up so you won't be seeing him in as many scenes. But they are bringing in so many, and I mean so many, guest stars and cameos that the average viewer won't realize it because there is so much going on."
The drama in Terrence Howard's life though may just be on "Empire" season 2 and no longer in real-life. Lately, the actor and wife, Mira Park, have been showing a united front after they were hit by divorce rumors. His Instagram feed has also been filled lately by events they both attended and of clips of their son.
