Sam Smith Stepping Away From Music To 'Kiss Some More Boys': 'I've Never Had A Boyfriend'

Perhaps taking a cue from Lady Gaga and Adele, 23-year-old singer Sam Smith has revealed he will be taking a year off from music for some boyfriend-related tasks.

During a recent Ellen Degeneres interview, Sam Smith discussed his decision to take a hiatus, despite recently netting two Guinness World Records partly due his James Bond theme song, "Writing's on the Wall."

"It's actually a really recent decision," he said. "This could change. I change my mind all the time, but I kind of decided a few months ago that I need to have a little bit of a break."

As someone who is open about never having a boyfriend, Smith admits he needs to live his life a bit before penning more songs.

"My music is so personal and I need to live my life," said Sam. "I basically need to kiss some more boys so I can write some songs."

Despite this, Smith is not sure whether he is ready for a boyfriend or not, according to his interview with E! Online.

"Is anyone ready for a relationship? Who knows," he admitted. "I've been single for 23 years so I don't know. It's going to take something."

In January, Sam Smith was speculated to be dating Jonathan Zeizel, which reportedly gave way to the song "Good Thing."

"The day before I wrote this song, I basically went on my phone and I deleted their number and I deleted everything," said Smith during a Toronto concert.

During an interview with ES Magazine, Sam Smith talked about his regret in posting pictures of the pair too early, making the relationship seem more serious than it actually was.

"I made a mistake by posting pictures of us on Instagram and making it seem more serious than it was," said Smith. "I've learned that I need to hold off before I start getting the public involved. I would say it was a relationship, but I still feel like I haven't had a proper boyfriend yet."
