Miami Heat Sending Mario Chalmers To Memphis Grizzlies In Exchange For Beno Udrih?

The Memphis Grizzlies are not having the best start this season as their well-known defense is not enough to get them victories. Apparently, the team is slugging behind because of poor offensive production and lack of consistent scorers.

With that said, the Grizzlies are looking for a remedy on their current dilemma and they see Miami Heat point guard Mario Chalmers as a potential solution to their current woes.

ESPN's Marc Stein recapped how bad the Memphis Grizzlies have struggled at the start of the season.

"To put it another way: Memphis has already trailed by 20 points or more for 62 minutes this season ... compared to 88 minutes for the whole of 2014-15," Stein wrote.

"Those lopsided scores, just six games in, suggest a worrisome level of non-competitiveness that inevitably put the coach -- any coach -- under the microscope. We've seen precious little of that signature grit or grind from this group so far."

Here's a tweet from Marc Stein confirming the Mario Chalmers to Grizzlies talk.

The reason why the Grizzlies are inclined to improve the point guard position is due to the poor play of back-up point guard, Beno Udrih. Here's the report from Ronald Tillery of the Commercial Appeal. "There quietly has been disappointment behind the scenes with Udrih's perceived lack of conditioning, athleticism and defense," Tillery wrote. "The belief in the organization is that third-string point guard Russ Smith isn't ready yet to be a rotation player for the Griz at that position." Upon hearing the trade rumors, Mario Chalmers couldn't help but accept that whatever happens, the league is a business after all.
