New 'Digimon Adventure Tri' Spreads Appear In Otomedia, Animedia And NewType

With only a few weeks remaining before the premiere of the "Digimon Adventure Tri" film series, several new magazine spreads are appearing in Japanese media.

On Monday, Japanese magazines Otomedia, NewType and Animedia uploaded new artwork and spreads for their December issues. In addition to showing new artwork for the DigiDestined children, there is also an illustration from a different artist in Animedia.

It is curious to see the caption "Break New Frontier" against the backdrop of Matt, Tai and Omnimon.

In addition, there is a five-minute preview of the first "Digimon Adventure Tri" movie, along with the English dub.

Roughly four minutes and forty seconds into the preview, fans noticed a new character holding a Digimon we don't yet recognize. Although it hasn't officially been confirmed, the name circulating the web calls it Meikumon, the companion of new character Meiko Mochidzuki.

"Alphamon does not say a word and appears to be hunting Meikumon," alleged a 4chan user.

Allegedly, Meiko is from Tottori and transfers to Tai's class during the "Digimon Adventure Tri" timeline. She is "searching for something in Odaiba and gets involved in battles with Digimon." It is possible, then, that Meikumon is the catalyst for her Digimon adventure.

The "Digimon Adventure Tri" six-part film series is a sequel to the original 1999 "Digimon Adventure" anime series. The new films were created in celebration of the 15-year anniversary since the original anime series premiere. The first film entitled "Reunion" will get a limited release in Japanese theaters on Nov. 21.
