Watch New 'Food Wars: Shokugeki No Soma' 3DS Game Trailer Featuring Original Story [VIDEO]

Today, a new trailer for the upcoming "Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma" 3DS game began streaming online. The new trailer, available to view below, features the original story that follows the cast to Europe and previews some of the upcoming food battles.

The "Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma" 3DS game is currently set for release in Japan on Dec. 17.

As usual with video games based on anime and manga series, fans outside of Japan are hoping for an export.

"Great, now if someone would actually bring it to the west and not leave it stranded like other 'based on an anime' games," said Bobmonkeys on Crunchyroll.

According to Anime News Network, "Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma" was originally a manga series created by Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki. The manga has so far yielded two spinoff series and an anime adaptation handled by J.C. Staff. Crunchyroll is currently streaming all the episodes of the anime, and Sentai Filmworks has licensed the series for home video release.

For those not familiar with the series, Crunchyroll describes the story of "Food Wars: Shokugeki No Soma" as follows:

"'Shokugeki no Soma' centers on Yukihira Soma, a middle school student who is determined to surpass his father's culinary skills. One day, his father decides to close down their family restaurant and hone his skills in Europe."

It goes on:

"Before leaving he enrolls Soma in an elite culinary school that is extremely difficult to enter with a graduation rate of only 10 percent. Will Souma be able to improve his skills, or will the kitchen prove to be too hot?
