‘Half Life 3’ Release Date Stalled As 'Left 4 Dead 3,' 'Portal 3' Get Preferential Launch From Valve

"Half Life 3" Release Date: It appears that Valve is banking on the 'Left 4 Dead 3,' and 'Portal 3' for holiday sales. The "Half Life 3" release date was recently put in doubt as fans are now checking out other Valve titles like "Left 4 Dead 3" and "Portal 3," though none of these future titles have been confirmed.

According to Venture Capital Post, Valve co-founder Gabe Newell declared that Half Life 3 was not in development. Newell was reportedly surprised by how much interest was generated by Half Life 3.

Bitbag reported that Valve is focused on developing "Left 4 Dead 3," which is causing a delay in Half Life 3 release date.

Rumors say Left 4 Dead 3 is under development and it will be released in 2017. Half Life 3 may be the most discussed title in gaming as Half Life 2 fans have been waiting for ten years for the sequel.

Previous reports claimed Valve began "Half Life 3," but decided to halt its production.

According to a statement by Valve Corporation's Newel, the game won't be in development anytime soon.

If this is true then the mysterious file in the "Dota 2" update didn't come from an official Valve Corporation channel. Players of "Dota 2" were surprised to get the text file as part of their game's regular updates. The mysterious file seems quite suspicious because it has a file name of hl3.txt.

Metro magazine wrote that new rumors emerged claiming Valve has Half-Life 3 fully planned out, but only 10 people are working on it right now.

Valve announced that the "Half Life 3" release date is around the corner earlier this year. Fans think Half Life 3 has been developed but is being shelved for other projects.

According to Mater Herald the 'Left 4 Dead 3' rumors started after some screenshots of Valve's internal bug tracking systems were leaked. This was interpreted as saying the game was being developed on Valve's new Source Engine 2. Master Herald reported that Valve made a lot of progress in porting 'Dota 2' to that new engine.

Valve studio appears to be focusing on Steam and on "Counter-Strike" and "Dota" currently. Valve teased about "Half-Life 3" earlier this month in the update files for the Massive Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game "Dota 2."
