Glenn Is Alive On 'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Just So Negan Can Kill Him?

In a wild twist of events while "The Walking Dead" fans are still waiting to find out whether Glenn is alive or not, a new villain has been cast for Season 6 that may make the argument moot anyway.

On Tuesday, TVLine announced that "The Good Wife" actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been cast as the infamous villain Negan. The character has been highly anticipated, given that the comic book version kills off Glenn Rhee.

"Morgan's killer of men is expected to debut toward the end of the AMC hit's current sixth season (in other words, sometime this spring), and then return in Season 7 as a (likely) series regular," wrote Michael Ausiello.

As many observers have noted, this may in fact be a blessing in disguise, as introducing Negan will likely mean Glenn has survived his recent predicament.

But, as it goes with "The Walking Dead," it also means that Glenn's fate will likely be tested at a later point, and potentially bring about one of the most talked-about deaths in the graphic novel.

Despite having been reportedly spotted filming further scenes for "The Walking Dead," it appears fans will have to wait yet another week after next to find out whether this fan-favorite character has met his death.

"This is a hard story to tell, and when we were planning to tell it, we know our friends at 'The Walking Dead' would be talking to you about it, and we knew we should say something about it, lest our silence say something we didn't mean to say or not say," said a statement from showrunner Scott M. Gimple.

"So I'll say this: In some way, we will see Glenn, some version of Glenn, or parts of Glenn again, either in flashback, or in the current story, to help complete the story."
