Gunnar ‘Leatherface’ Hansen passes on.
Horror movies are easily distinguishable from one another when there is a villain that is easily memorable. Whether the villain is physically horrifying or mentally defunct, a good horror villain is one that is effective in making sure that audiences are at the edge of their seats.
The original “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” villain, Gunnar Hansen, put on an iconic performance as the murderous killer “Leatherface.”
The film was released back in 1974, but is still considered a classic horror flick to see by horror movie enthusiasts and afficionados.
The movie was such an iconic piece that there were a series of sequels made that followed the original concept and, of course, included Leatherface.
According to USA Today, Gunnar “Leatherface” Hansen recently passed last Saturday of pancreatic cancer at age 68. He died in his home in Maine where he lived for 40 years as an actor and a writer.
The legacy of Hansen isn’t over as his last film titled “Death House” is scheduled to come out next year. The horror star took on the project as a producer and a writer. This would be the last addition to his roster of achievements, such as appearing in 28 films, working as a magazine editor and writing several books, documentaries and screenplays, as reported by Independent.
The film is reportedly about how a secret government facility becomes ground zero for one of the most horrific prison breaks in history. While there isn’t any official details on what the film is actually about, Inquistr reported that “Death House” might actually be the horror version of “The Expendables” by bringing together the iconic horror villains in one films.
