Memphis Grizzlies And Miami Heat Finalizes Mario Chalmers Deal; Dwyane Wade Saddened By The News

It's official, the Memphis Grizzlies finally pulled the trigger and has now acquired Miami Heat point guard Mario Chalmers in exchange for struggling point guard, Beno Udrih.

According to Yahoo Sports, the deal is a four-player trade that will send Mario Chalmers and seldom-used forward James Ennis to Memphis in exchange for Beno Udrih and forward Jarnell Stokes.

The Grizzlies are looking for an upgrade in the point guard position while the Miami Heat wants to go below the salary tax line. Although this move won't get them where they want to, they are now significantly closer. However, his presence will be tremendously missed.

''Days like this aren't fun,'' Heat guard Dwyane Wade said. ''Rio's a brother.''

''Sometimes you've got to give people room to really grow,'' Heat President Pat Riley said. ''Now, we're going to miss Mario. We love the guy. Been here seven years, won two championships. This is not an easy day for me and the organization.''

The Heat could also use this as an opportunity to give PG Tyler Johnson more minutes while the combo of Goran Dragic and Beno Udrih brings in familiarity as both played for Slovenia in 2006.

''Rio can hold his head high, leaving on a great note here,'' Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. ''He'll always be remembered as a two-time champion point guard here in Miami, welcomed in Miami from here on out."

Lastly, Chalmers thanked the Heat management and its fans for the opportunity they gave him through his Twitter account.

''It has been a tremendous honor and privilege to be a part of the Miami Heat championship family for more than 7 seasons,'' Chalmers tweeted late Tuesday. ''It is with great sadness and excitement that I end one amazing chapter on my NBA career to graciously begin another with the Memphis Grizzlies.''
