Is Leaving 'Grey's Anatomy' And Ellen Pompeo Saving Patrick Dempsey's Marriage?

"Grey's Anatomy" fans are still reeling from the departure of Patrick Dempsey's Derek Shepherd. But is leaving his on-screen soulmate what will rejuvenate the actor's marriage?

On Sunday, US Weekly published photos of Patrick Dempsey with estranged wife Jillian Fink holding hands and spending time together in Paris. Fink had previously filed for divorce in January, citing irreconcilable differences.

"They've been going on dates and [are] trying to be a couple again," said a source to US Magazine. "There's still a lot of love between them."

According to the insider, Dempsey and Fink's pending divorce is in large due to the actor "going through a bit of a midlife crisis." However, he's reportedly "snapping out of it."

The midlife crisis in question could be related to why Dempsey left "Grey's Anatomy" after 11 seasons on the show.

According to The Inquisitr, Patrick Dempsey's ex-wife Jillian Fink divorced him after Ellen Pompeo told her about the alleged on-set affair the actor had been having while filming "Grey's Anatomy." Despite the timing between his departure from the series and the divorce, Dempsey's rep has called the allegations "ridiculous."

Dempsey later called his relationship with Ellen Pompeo as "very good" post-firing.

According to Radar Online, Patrick Dempsey allegedly had an affair with a "Grey's Anatomy" staff member starting last August, and that was the ultimate cause of both his departure from the ABC series and his divorce this January.

"It was obvious to everyone Patrick was [sleeping with] her," said a source.

"It got very messy and emotional on set and became a huge liability. Patrick would remain in his trailer after hooking up with her on set and refuse to come out. He had also been complaining about the storyline of his character, and felt he wasn't getting enough screen time."
