Nina Dobrev Latest News: Ian Somerhalder Finally Accepts No 'The Vampire Diaries' Return?

The Nina Dobrev latest news of a possible "The Vampire Diaries" return has been swirling for months. But it may not be happening at all as the Bulgarian-Canadian actress has been rumored to headline a "Baywatch" movie reboot. The update comes at the same time that it seemingly appeared Ian Somerhalder has finally accepted her exit.

"I personally think everyone thought it was going to be a huge departure after Elena (Nina Dobrev) was gone," Ian Somerhalder told Variety just a few days ago. "And I was one of those people. I thought it was going to be a huge departure for the typical formula of our show. By virtue of the fact that it wasn't a huge leap for mankind, as far as changing it up, there were some differences that sort of mixed up the formula."

It was only last month when Celeb Dirty Laundry claimed that Ian Somerhalder was "excited" for the former Elena Gilbert actress when she does return to the TV series. But now, it seemed Dobrev was too busy with future rumored projects.

In an exclusive report on Deadline, it was mentioned that young and upcoming stars have been tapped to be a part of the "Baywatch" reboot and the former Elena Gilbert actress was at the top of the list for the female lead in the said film.

Aside from Dobrev, producers of the "Baywatch" reboot were reportedly also looking into "Pretty Little Liars'" Ashley Benson, "The Duff's" Bianca Santos, "Percy Jackson's" Alexandra Daddario to star in the lifeguard movie reboot.

Nina Dobrev has yet to address the latest movie news about her but she did admit recently that she's raring to do more challenging movies now that the chapter of her life on "The Vampire Diaries" was finally over.

"I want to do something dark and gritty," she told WhoWhatWear last month. "I want to work with directors that I admire and that will make me better and actors that will challenge me and scare the s--t out of me."

But despite her admission of wanting to focus on movies, rumors continue to swirl on the Nina Dobrev latest news that she may still be heading back to "The Vampire Diaries." In September she told Entertainment Weekly, once and for all, that her stint on the TV series was over.
