NBA Trade Rumors: OKC Thunder Dion Waiters On The Move? Guard Wants To Play For Philly

Are Oklahoma City Thunder guard Dion Waiter days with the team numbered? By the look of things, parting ways are mutual for both sides as of the moment.

The fourth overall pick of the 2012 NBA draft is not getting his desired role with the OKC Thunder after being traded by the Cleveland Cavaliers last season.

He is currently averaging 11 ppg and 3.6 rpg as well as coming off the bench, a role he doesn't really like.

So where does Dion Waiters go from here? According to reports, the OKC Thunder are not planning to extend his rookie contract and might let him walk away for nothing.

Should that be the case, the young shooting guard is very interested to play for his hometown team, the Philadelphia 76ers.

"He wants to come home," a source told Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer. "Plus, he knows that he could be the missing shooting guard they need. And he could possibility get a [very lucrative] contract with the Sixers."

The source added, "Talked about getting a place downtown not too far from the arena so playing at home would be less of a distraction."

The Sixers have plenty of cap space and they should have no troubles adding Waiters to the roster. Perhaps, the only issue is if he will get the max contract he thinks he actually deserves.

The team is loaded in the frontcourt but they are severely lacking in the backcourt. With the addition of Waiters, 2015 3rd overall pick Jahlil Okafor should have someone to take some load off from him in the offensive end.
