The Boston Celtics are in a great position to make a blockbuster deal as they possess valuable assets that will be of interest to any team.
The Celtics currently own three first round picks (acquired from Brooklyn Nets, Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves) and as of writing, they will have two picks in the top 10 and the last is still a lottery pick per nba-draft.net.
Moreover, GM Danny Ainge is vocal about his desire to add talented players to their roster and he said that he is looking at every trade scenario that comes their way.
"Listen, we consider all talented players, but what is the price? Who are the players that we have around to support? All of that is [discussed] when we have trade talks. I think everybody knows who you are talking about," Ainge said via Boston's 98.5 The Sports Hub, via ESPN.com's Chris Forsberg.
"The bottom line is I can't talk about any players, but I can assure you that we're familiar with every player in the league and every player's background and their character. We consider it all."
With that said, Bleacher Report's Adam Fromal made a trade scenario wherein Kings All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins will go to the Celtics in exchange for the much coveted Nets draft pick plus two more first rounders and David Lee.
"Sacramento Kings Receive: 2016 first-round pick (via Brooklyn Nets), 2017 second-round pick (via Cleveland Cavaliers), 2018 first-round pick (via Brooklyn Nets, lottery-protected), David Lee
Boston Celtics Receive: DeMarcus Cousins"
That might be a good deal per Fromal considering the unstableness of the Kings locker room and the alleged rift between George Karl and the center. The Celtics will finally have a franchise cornerstone while the Kings can begin on a clean slate.
