The NBA is changing in many aspects and that includes the versatility of big men of this generation.
Before, majority of the big men were designated as much as to the post to battle for the rebound and score some post moves. But in today's NBA, majority of power forwards and centers can now shoot far perimeter jumpers or even go way beyond the three-point line.
Concentrating on two of the most revolutionary players in the league right now, Anthony Davis and rookie Kristaps Porzingis might just be the blueprint for future bigs to base their game on.
Last night, both big men squared off and although Davis got the better stats, the Latvian rookie's team got the victory.
Following the game, both stars talked about each other and Porzingis admits that Davis is hard to stop.
"He's one of the guys that I look up and try to learn the game from," Porzingis told New York Daily News. "He proved once again why he's so good. He just - all the baskets he got, he knows what he's doing. He shoots at the right time. He's running fast breaks."
"It's hard to stop him, his all-around game. I try to be aggressive at the beginning. He came back to me. I think he's the best power forward right now in the NBA. It's tough for sure, but it was a good experience for me."
Porzingis contemplated on his performance and he admits that there are plenty of work to do.
"It was a bad shooting game for me. I shot the ball bad," Porzingis added. "There's other things that I can do on the floor without trying to score every shot I take. On the defensive end, offensively, try to get my teammates open, little stuff like that. Coach sees that, not everybody sees that, but coach sees it."
Meanwhile, Pelicans star Anthony Davis praised Porzingis for his versatility and he is looking to future battles with the Knicks rookie.
"Porzingis is a great player. He can shoot, he can drive and he is active," the Pelicans forward said. "It is going to be fun battling him."
