NBA Draft 2016: Jamal Murray The Next Great PG? What’s The Secret To His Success So Far?

Next year, another load of talented, young athletes will try to make a name for themselves when the 2016 NBA Draft commences.

Next year's class is touted as a very strong batch with Ben Simmons, Skal Labisierre and Jamal Murray leading the way. Zooming in on the Canadian Murray, he is the one making a lot of noise as of the moment.

In fact, scouts already brand him as the best prospect in college basketball right now, outpacing Simmons and Labisierre.

"Not only is Murray the top point guard prospect in the draft," ESPN's draft analyst Chad Ford wrote, "he might be the best player in college basketball."

Scouts believe the kid can do it all. But what is his secret on why he is enjoying success in the early stages of his basketball career? For the Canadian, being mentally tough and having the right mindset is his key to victory.

"Sometimes I'm reflecting on a practice and things I could've done better," Murray said via Bleacher Report. "Other times I'm visualizing things that will happen in a game. Having that time to myself is important. It's a big part of who I am as a player."

"When you meditate, you go deeper into your thinking and explore parts of your mind that you never would've explored. When you're calm, you're more focused and you make better choices. The game is moving fast, but to you it still seems slow," he added.

In fact, he draws comparison to New York Knicks president Phil Jackson during his playing days.

"He reminds me of (former NBA coach) Phil Jackson-a Zen master on the court," said Tony McIntyre, a former coach of Jamal Murray. "The whole time he's playing, he's in a different zone-a different place than anyone else."

Will Jamal Murray be the first overall pick of next year's draft? Stay tuned.
