LA Lakers News: Will Head Coach Byron Scott Be Fired Soon?

The LA Lakers are off to a terrible start as they currently stand at 2-9. There are plenty of areas they need to improve on and does that start with parting ways with head coach Byron Scott?

The Lakers have missed the playoffs for two consecutive seasons and last year was their worst finish (21-61) since the league implemented 82 games per season and that season is Scott's first with the Lakers.

Is he the one to blame with their misery? Scott is very much aware of their current situation and he prefers to look at the glass half-full as he believes they are making strides in the defensive end this season.

"I know a lot of people aren't happy with our record and where we are," Scott said, per the Los Angeles Times' Mike Bresnahan. "But I'm happy with the progress that we're making, especially at that [defensive] end of the floor. That was the main objective coming into this season, to form an identity on that defensive end and let everything else kind of take care of itself."

Perhaps, one of the major factors why they are struggling so bad is the declining health of Kobe Bryant as the star keeps on missing games due to injury. There's a possibility that this could be his last season after announcing that his back and legs are killing him.

"Right now, I'm barely standing up. My back and my legs, man, it's killing me. I'm not looking forward to walking to the car right now," Bryant said via ESPN. "Seriously."

This might signify that the coaching staff should start going with the young talents like Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle and 2015 2nd overall pick D'Angelo Russell. However, Byron Scott is not a fan of playing young guys especially Russell, per Fox Sports.

Do the Lakers need to make a major shake-up in the coaching staff to revitalize their morale? Sound off in the comment box below.
