Floyd Mayweather Jr. Fires Back On Oscar De La Hoya; Says Mexican Is Jealous Because He Was Left Out In Pacquiao Fight

Floyd Mayweather is not backing down without a fight. After Oscar De La Hoya sent him a letter saying boxing is better without him, here's what the undefeated, now-retired American boxer has to say to the Mexican promoter.

Mayweather granted an interview with David Mayo of MLive.com and the first thing he pointed out is that the fighters he fought, that many believes he cherry-picked are fighters from Golden Boy Promotions.

Money pointed out that if De La Hoya is looking for quality fights from him, then he should have sent better fighters from his promotion but obviously, Oscar is only after the money.

"I mean, this is the same guy, I'm so boring, but he fed all his fighters to me," Mayweather said. "So it's obvious he did it because it was all about the money for him."

Mayweather also claims that he knows where De La Hoya's hate is coming from. It is worth noting that he left Golden Boy last year, hence The Golden Boy was left out when Mayweather Promotions took all the money during the Pacquiao fight.

"I think he's jealous - jealous," Floyd said. "The thing is this, I mean, you see Richard Schaefer is gone. Richard Schaefer built Golden Boy. Honestly, who wants to do business with Oscar De La Hoya? I really care about a fighter's well-being. I'm just saying if Miguel Cotto was my fighter, if Canelo (Alvarez) was my fighter, they'd be a lot bigger than they are now."

Lastly, Mayweather has some word of advice for young boxers and that is not to have Oscar De La Hoya as their promoter.

"If I was a young fighter coming up, I would not want Oscar De La Hoya as my promoter. Me, as a fighter, I couldn't trust him," he said.
